This wonderful news has been making the rounds on Facebook, but I wanted everyone to see it here too! Five local women were honoured at St. Albert Baha'i awards gala on Saturday, March 9, 2019 as International Women of the Year. Congratulations to Helen Arnott, Class of ’60! Since 1979, Helen has sponsored refugee families from Vietnam, Eritrea, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Somalia and recently Syria. And in 2015, she founded the Community Refugee Committee.

Twenty-three years ago St. Albert Baha’i initiated the United Nations International Women’s Day Awards. Every year the Baha’i choose a special charity in support of International Women’s Day. This year it was, One! International Poverty Relief, a registered Canadian charity in Mumbai, India, that provides education to street children and supports an orphanage.

We are sharing a message from Shalini Prakash Agarwal, Class of '72, and a wonderful opportunity to visit the Prakash Family's Glenburn Tea Estate as part of a 12 day tour to Calcutta, Assam, and Darjeeling - the Glenburn Tea Experience. To find out more, check out the links in Shalini's message below. The Tour URL gives you the itinerary and how to reach her.

"I have been promoting teas from our family tea farms in India for a few years and am taking the liberty of forwarding this tour package to you. Participants will be staying at our family tea farms in Darjeeling and Assam and it is limited to 10 people, dates are April 15-26, 2019 (and most likely a repeat in September). We have been running a boutique hotel in Glenburn Tea Estate, Darjeeling for the last 17 years and it has become world famous."

"A different kind of vacation, partly educational and partly touring. All inclusive, organized and a good way to visit some more remote parts of India."
